HUESCA, Eliseo Jr (Philippines)

Eliseo Jr Huesca joined the Institute in 2015. His PHD is research entitled “Localizing International Norms: United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 and Domestic Peace Politics in Southern Philippines”. He was selected for the Asian Graduate Research Fellowship at the prestigious Asia Research Institute at the National University of Singapore in July 2017. This fellowship enabled him to access the libraries in NUS and ISEAS, present his work to experts, and establish network with leading scholars on his research. He was also awarded a Travel Grant by Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy to present his paper at the ICPP3 Conference held at the LKYSPP, National University of Singapore. At the early stage of his PhD candidacy, he has published a book chapter “Plantation Economy, Indigenous People, and Precariousness in Philippine Uplands: The Mindanao Experience.” In Paul Carnegie, Victor King and Wan Zawawi Ibrahim (eds) Human Insecurities on South East Asia. NGUYEN, Thuy Linh (Vietnam)

Nguyen Thuy Linh  was formerly a lecturer  at  Department  of  English,  School  of  Foreign  Languages,  Thai Nguyen University, Vietnam. She holds the MA degree in English Linguistics from Hanoi National University of Languages and International Studies (ULIS), and BA degree in English for Education from Hue University of Foreign Languages. Her academic background is  in  Cross-cultural  Communication,  English  languages  teaching  to  young learners, and Semantics. During the time at School of Foreign Languages, Thai Nguyen University, she  has contributed and conducted  researches relating to curriculum development and material design. She has received Graduate Research Scholarship for her doctorate degree at Institute of Asian Studies, UBD. She is currently researching Information and Communication Technology in Higher Education in Vietnam.



SARKER, Mst. Rayhena  (Bangladesh)

Mst. Rayhena Sarker is a PhD fellow at the Institute of Asian Studies, University of Brunei Darussalam. She has completed her Master of Arts degree from University of Malaya, Malaysia. Besides this, she obtained her 1st MSS (master of social science) degree from the Department of Anthropology, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. She worked on two research projects in Malaysia. One is at the Centre for Migration and Refugee Studies at the American University in Cairo (CMRS) and others with University of Malaya, Malaysia. She has a good record of publications, and so far six papers have been published. Her research focus is mainly on migration, and she has experiences to research Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam. Moreover, she is interested in researching different cultural heritage. Rayhena Sarker is pursuing her PhD on “Bangladeshi Migrant workers in Brunei: Migration, Employment and Networking Process.”

ROSIDI, Imron (Indonesia)

Imron Rosidi's current research project is on the Korean Wave (the emergence of Korean pop culture) in Indonesia, focusing on the case of Korean dramas. It examines Indonesian youth reactions to and attitudes toward the Korean Wave, as well as characterizations of and responses to the popularity of Korean Dramas in the  contemporary  Indonesia.  Through  various  opinions  and  reactions  of Indonesian  youths  expressed  within  interviews,  he analyzed  the  reasons  for  and background of the Korean Wave in Indonesia. He is also interested in considering how Indonesian youths interpret Korean dramas. This project is supervised by Prof. Wan Zawawi Ibrahim and Dr. Chris W. H Woo of University of Brunei Darussalam.



IBRAHIM, Ikhsan (Indonesia)

Ikhsan Ibrahim has a vast experience in teaching undergraduate students on the subject of Islam and Politics, Religion and Indonesian Politics in Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University, Indonesia. He completed his MA in Interdisciplinary  Islamic  Studies  at  Syarif  Hidayatullah  State  Islamic  University, Jakarta Indonesia in partnership with Mc Gill University Montreal, Canada. He holds a BA in Islamic Education from Sunan Gunung Djati State Islamic University, Bandung. In IAS, he is  writing  a  PhD  thesis  on  Religious  Identity  and  International  Politics  of Indonesia: Islam in Yudhoyono Foreign Policy (2004-2014).
